Paramount+ adds more European countries

NEW YORK/CANNES — Paramount+, the global streaming service from Paramount Global (NASDAQ: PARA, PARAA), today announced that the service will arrive in France on December 1, followed by Germany, Austria and Switzerland on December 8. Audiences in both regions will gain access to a mountain of entertainment for the whole family spanning new and exclusive Paramount+ originals, hit shows and blockbuster movies across every genre from Paramount’s world-renowned brands and production studios, including Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, SHOWTIME® and the Smithsonian Channel™.
“Paramount+ is rapidly expanding its presence globally, bringing audience a unique content offering with the biggest stars and most compelling global and local stories. With these upcoming launches, Paramount+ will see a major growth across Europe, becoming one of the top players worldwide,” said Marco Nobili, Executive Vice President and International General Manager of Paramount+. Paramount+ global originals that will become available on the platform include TULSA KING, with Sylvester Stallone as New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi, just after he is released from prison after 25 years and unceremoniously exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma; 1923, the next instalment of the “Yellowstone” origin story Starring Academy Award® nominee Harrison Ford and Academy Award® winner Helen Mirren that introduces a new generation of the Dutton family; and STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS, based on the years Captain Christopher Pike manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise.
Amongst kids and family titles are iconic favorites like PAW Patrol and SpongeBob SquarePants, as well as ICARLY, based on the original hit sitcom, following Carly Shay, the original influencer, and her friends as they navigate work, love and family in their 20s; BIG NATE, a new animated series about a sixth-grade kid who has a never-ending need to prove his awesomeness to the world; and the reboot of the RUGRATS.
The service will also offer a robust lineup of local content in both regions. Over time, audiences will be introduced to titles including MASK: MARIE ANTIONETTE SERIAL KILLER, an 8-hour young adult fantasy horror thriller; THE SIGNAL (LE SIGNAL), a mystery based on the bestselling novel by Maxime Chattam; and LE STADE, which follows the Stade Toulousain rugby team as they face the most ambitious challenge in its history.
Audiences in Germany, Austria and Switzerland will be invited to enjoy series including DER SCHEICH, the eight-episode tale of a one-of-a-kind con artist by award-winning filmmaker, Dani Levy; SIMON BECKETT’S CHEMISTRY OF DEATH, a gripping crime series based on the acclaimed best-selling novels about forensic anthropologist Dr. David Hunter; A THIN LINE, an eco-cyber thriller series; KOHLRABENSCHWARZ, based on the mystery audio-drama series of the same name; and the sixth season of the popular Nickelodeon series, SPOTLIGHT.
Upon launch in France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Paramount+ will become available online, on a wide range of connected TV devices via distribution through Apple, Amazon, Google, Samsung, Roku, mobile devices and more. Paramount+ will also launch on Sky platforms in Germany and Austria as part of a new multi-year distribution agreement. Through this agreement, Sky subscribers with Sky Cinema will have access to Paramount+ content at no additional cost, and the Paramount+ standalone app will also launch on Sky Q. In France, thanks to the hard bundle with CANAL+ Group, CANAL+ will distribute Jot something down Shift + Return to add a new line
Paramount+ will also launch on Sky platforms in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as part of a new multi-year distribution agreement. Through this agreement, Sky subscribers with Sky Cinema will have access to Paramount+ content at no additional cost, and the Paramount+ standalone app will also launch on Sky Q.
In France, through a partnership with Canal+, subscribers of Canal+ Serie will be able to access to Paramount+ at no additional cost, whilst French speaking regions of Switzerland will be able to access Paramount+ exclusively through Canal+
