ENENSYS Completes Delivery of OneBeam™ System to Vietnam Television for Regional DVB-T2 Network
RENNES — ENENSYS Technologies, designer and manufacturer of digital TV transmission technologies, has announced that it has completed delivery of its OneBeam solution to Vietnam Television (VTV) for their DVB-T2 digital terrestrial TV network. OneBeam optimises network capacity by using standard satellite DTH technology to also provide DTT transmitter distribution in a single satellite feed.
The new VTV regional network builds on the existing DVB-T2 transmissions, covering 37 new transmitter sites operating in Single Frequency Network (SFN) throughout Vietnam. Completion of the last phase of the project provides terrestrial TV reception upto 98% of Vietnamese households and enabled analogue switch-off to be completed.
ENENSYS SmartGate OneBeam and seamless switches are installed at the Hanoi head-end, with distribution to transmitters over satellite and IP links. The OneBeam solution enables the DTH satellite service to be used to feed the DVB-T2 transmitters, delivering significant savings in satellite transponder capacity and operational costs. ENENSYS TxEdge units at each transmitter site build the T2 multiplex for transmission, enabling SFN operation of transmitters.
The OneBeam system implements the DVB-SIS ‘Single Illumination System’ and was the first live deployment of this standard. The system has been supplied and integrated by VIETCOMS, the leading Vietnam systems integrator and reseller of ENENSYS.
Tran Quang Hung, Director at VTV Transmission, said, “ENENSYS has been able to meet our requirements to combine satellite delivery with distribution to our DVB-T2 transmitters, enabling us to optimise our satellite distribution costs.”
Colin Prior, VP Sales APAC for ENENSYS, added, “We are delighted that VTV selected ENENSYS DVB-T2 technology at the core of its digital terrestrial network. The OneBeam V2 solution has been developed specifically to meet the requirements of network operators such as VTV to optimise satellite capacity by combining DVB-T2 transmitter feed distribution with conventional DTH distribution and delivery.”
