BERLIN/ZURICH — NetCologne, one of Germany’s largest regional network operators in Germany and pioneer in fiber optic expansion, telephony and super-fast Internet, has extended its IPTV contract with Zattoo for another five years. The successful Cologne-based company has already been one of Zattoo’s first German customers, relying since 2016 on the Swiss company’s leading European TV-as-a-service platform with to date over 30 customers across the continent.
With this contract extension, both companies underline their strategic partnership in bringing an innovative IPTV experience to customers. Regional market leaders like NetCologne offer this to their end customers based on Zattoo’s end-to-end managed TV platform combined with other communication solutions from a single source. NetCologne is planning to make its TV offering available on smart TVs in the near future to establish usability of its white-label TV offering on all common end devices (set-top box, web and mobile) – liberating customers to select a reception device of their own choosing.
Netcologne has long supplied the German regional areas of Cologne, Bonn and Aachen, and its IPTV offering provided by Zattoo was most recently highlighted in the well-known German platform test publication IMTEST 2023 in April for outstanding quality alongside high-speed Internet and telephony. Special recognition was given to the very fast start-up times for the set-top box, no failures during load times, fast program changes and, in all test scenarios, very good picture quality.
“We are pleased that we can further expand our partnership with NetCologne and continue to support the company as an outstanding regional provider in the region with our white-label offering in a particularly competitive market in the coming years,” says Jörg Meyer, Chief Commercial Officer at Zattoo. “We are proving once again that the Zattoo TV platform is highly scalable to meet not only the demands of large network operators, but also those of regional providers in particular – be it on customer experience, usage or transmission quality.”
