XCode™ 2111 enables Video Processing for Advance applications

Toronto, CANADA — ViXS Systems Inc., a leading developer of video processing solutions, today announced that Blusens, a leading consumer electronics manufacturer, is using the ViXS XCode™ 2100 Series video processor in its new blu:brain Home Entertainment Device (HED). Specifically, the XCode™ 2111 provides video processing to digitize analog video for increased storage, media conversion and video place-shifting applications.

As consumers are inundated with more and more video content from multiple sources, there is a need to manage and control this immense amount of content. Blusens has tackled this consumer issue by developing a sophisticated Multimedia Center product called blu:brain. The blu:brain product has the ability to manage, reproduce, convert, place-shift and distribute audiovisual content from different sources. This includes content from Digital Terrestrial, internal Hard Disk Drive, Internet, WiFi connectivity or other external audio, video or storage sources. Created with the end user in mind, the blu:brain media center is setting the standard for the Connected Home ecosystem of IP home entertainment devices and the concept of networked leisure, and joins together powerful features with an extremely easy-to-use interface.

José Ramón García, Executive President of Blusens, said: “The video processing that the ViXS solution has enabled in the blu:brain product has allowed Blusens to provide consumers a Home Entertainment product with advanced MPEG4 recording and place-shifting capabilities, plus versatility and flexibility with endless video freedom.”

XCode™ 2111 features deployed in the blu:brain media center include:

  • MPEG2 / MPEG4 analog video encoding
  • MPEG2 / MPEG4 video transcoding
  • Video Encoding / Transcoding for Placeshifting and Storage optimization
  • Mirror Encoding for two sets of output playback streams: TV and Mobile device

“ViXS is pleased that the XCode™ 2100 Series could contribute its industry-leading video encoding, high-quality video transcoding and overall cost effectiveness to the Blusens blu:brain product. The blu:brain product is truly a unique product with all the features and functions required by consumers looking for the ultimate media center”, said Sally Daub, President and CEO of ViXS Systems.

The Blusens blu:brain Home Entertainment Device, and other ViXS products, solutions and technology will be on display at CES 2009 from January 8 to 11, 2009. ViXS will be in Room 36163 of South Hall 4 in the Las Vegas Convention Center. Blusens is located at the SANDS, booth 74237.
