Taiwan-based wireless device/application provider starts shipping smartphones that feature Irdeto’s OMA DRM client solution

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands — Irdeto, a leading expert in content and business model protection solutions and services, today announced that Indigo Mobile Technologies will be deploying its OMA DRM client solution to protect its mobile content delivery platforms.

Indigo Mobile Technologies, the leading wireless communication device design service provider in Taiwan, is implementing Irdeto’s OMA DRM solution onto the I-Mobile SENSE80 mobile phone, the Microsoft Windows Mobile OS-based smartphone.

“The demand for mobile multimedia services is very strong and we needed a solution that would deliver on high quality standard and support our revenue model. Irdeto’s OMA DRM solution came highly recommended to us and is ideally suited for dispatch in our smartphones. We are excited to have shipped out our first shipment of Windows Mobile OS-based smartphones with the OMA DRM to our customer, SAMART in Thailand,” said Harrison Chang, the CEO of Indigo Mobile Technologies.

As DRM systems becoming increasingly important tools for content owners interested in protecting copyrights and retaining the value of their digital property, companies are looking for a reliable solution that can provide them robust security features, ease of integration and cross-platform portability. Irdeto’s OMA DRM meets all those requirements and is ideally suited for today’s mobile content, including ring tones, mobile games, music and videos, and offers a balance of security, features, and interoperability.

“As demands on mobile networks are increasingly stringent due to the evolving diversity and complexity that characterizes services such as mobile video, voice, music, broadband Internet, video conferencing and interactive gaming, operators are turning to supplement their traditional voice-based revenue streams with these data-based multimedia services,” said Doug Lowther, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Irdeto. “Irdeto’s OMA DRM supports all content delivery methods, enforces content licenses, and provides mechanisms to manage super distribution, which increases revenue generating opportunities for mobile network operators.”
