Discretix and CoreMedia demonstrate OMA DRM for mobile video streaming

DÃœSSELDORF, Germany/ BEIJING, China — Discretix, the leading provider of embedded security and content protection solutions for mobile devices and flash memory, and CoreMedia, the global provider of software solutions for convergent content business, today announced the availability of the world’s first open standards-based solution for secure mobile video streaming.

The solution, based on the CoreMedia DRM server and the Discretix DRM client, will be demonstrated first at the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Enhanced Environment Test in Düsseldorf Germany and Beijing China. The end-to-end offering will deliver secure video streaming within an open ecosystem by using the OMA DRM 2.1 PDCF standardization allowing the freedom of choice for consumer devices.

Discretix’ Multi-Scheme DRM Client provides a comprehensive solution for Mobile handsets and MID devices, based on Android, Window-Mobile, Linux, Symbian and real-time operating systems. Discretix Multi-Scheme DRM Client also addresses consumer devices like set-top-boxes (STB), Portable-media-players (PMP) and car infotainment systems.

With CoreMedia’s carrier-grade platform, service providers can implement flexible business models like pay-per-view, rental and subscriptions to satisfy consumer needs.
