Irdeto signs license agreements with Core Logic, Mtekvision, Telechips to integrate mobile solutions

Barcelona, Spain — 3GSM — Irdeto, the proven expert in content security for digital TV, IPTV and mobile networks, announced today that it has licensed the Irdeto Mobile Broadcast Conditional Access (CA) solution to the world-leading mobile multimedia chipset manufacturers, Core Logic, Mtekvision and Telechips, to secure mobile broadcasting for device manufacturers worldwide.

Core Logic, Mtekvision and Telechips will integrate Irdeto’s Mobile Broadcast CA solution into its chipsets. This will shorten the integration process for device manufacturers significantly. The integration will enable the chipsets to work with both Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (T-DMB) and Digital Video Broadcasting for Handhelds (DVB-H) technologies. The support for multiple standards and the volume production of standardized chips will reduce the overall cost to manufacturers of making mobile TV-enabled handsets.

“For content owners and providers, a robust security solution is needed to protect their content and to secure their revenue. Also crucial to their success is a quick time to market,” said Graham Kill, CEO of Irdeto. “With world-leading chipset manufacturers like Core Logic, Mtekvision and Telechips adopting our Mobile Broadcast CA solution, mobile device manufacturers will benefit from having a secure CA solution that can be easily integrated into their mobile devices and have these devices quickly delivered to the market. Service providers will also stand to benefit as they can expand their subscriber base with the broader range of mobile broadcast programs offered to customers.”

The Irdeto Mobile Broadcast CA solution is the world’s first and most-deployed conditional access system for mobile TV services, including S-DMB, T-DMB and DVB-H implementations in Asia, Europe and Africa. It enables subscribers to enjoy multi-channel, multimedia broadcasting on mobile phones, portable receivers and in-car devices and operators to effectively manage millions of subscribers while optimizing customer experience.
