Google announces WebM open web media format project
May 19, 2010 – Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) has opened I/O 2010, its developer conference, and has announced WebM, an open web media format project. Google has open-sourced VP8, a web-optimized video codec, and is contributing to the project under a royalty-free license.
