Lithuanian digital TV subscribers up 5% in 1Q10
Thursday, May 20th, 2010VILNIUS — The Lithuanian Communications Regulatory Authority (Ryšių Reguliavimo Tarnyba – RRT) has announced preliminary first quarter 2010 electronic communications market data.
The number of digital pay TV subscribers continues to grow, up 5 percent in the quarter to 237.7 thousand. 50.2 thousand subscribe via multichannel cable and microwave television networks, 60.3 thousand use IP technology (IPTV), 50.6 thousand receive digital terrestrial (DVB-T) services and 76.5 thousand via satellite TV.

In the fourth quarter of 2009, digital cable television and MMDS services were provided by 17 undertakings (16 – cable TV and 4 – MMDS). IPTV was provided by 7 companies (Teo LT, Penkių kontinentų komunikacijų centras, Kavamedia, Alpha Komunikacijos-1, Transteleservisas, Miesto tinklas and Horda). Digital terrestrial television (DVB-T) services were provided by TEO LT and Balticum TV, and satellite TV was provided by Viasat Broadcasting.
