Roku powers Sky Online TV Box in Germany
Thursday, October 30th, 2014SARATOGA, Calif. & UNTERFOHRING, Germany — Roku Inc. and Sky Deutschland today announced that the companies have entered into a strategic agreement using the Roku® streaming platform for the development of the Sky Online TV Box. Announced today, Sky Online is a brand-new, easy and flexible, stand-alone online TV service to experience the great content from Sky that is available to consumers without a traditional Sky subscription. It will be available in the coming months through the Sky Online TV Box, which will also have access to the online video library Snap. Sky Deutschland is the second international pay TV provider to partner with Roku under the Roku Powered™ program.

The Roku Powered program allows Pay TV service providers to license the Roku streaming platform and gain access to a simple and intuitive user interface, ongoing software updates, a broad selection of streaming entertainment and low-cost streaming players. With the Roku Powered platform, Pay TV service providers can accelerate time to market, expand their reach, and reduce customer churn by delivering an innovative entertainment experience to customers.
