UpdateLogic® Licenses UpdateTV Software to Zoran for Integration Into DTV Silicon Platforms

Zoran’s Customers Now Able to Send Firmware Updates to Digital Televisions via UpdateLogic’s Nationwide Distribution Network

SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. — UpdateLogic®, Inc., the pioneer in solutions to update software in digital televisions, today announced that Zoran Corporation (Nasdaq: ZRAN) has licensed the UpdateTV® solution for its embedded digital TV hardware platforms.

Under the licensing agreement, Zoran will integrate the UpdateTV Agent into its digital TV hardware platforms, providing its customers with the ability to immediately activate the UpdateTV solution via a service contract with UpdateLogic. By upgrading consumer-installed DTVs automatically, UpdateTV reduces the cost of service and improves overall customer satisfaction with digital television sets.

With the advent of DTV devices, TV software stacks have become significantly more sophisticated – and more susceptible to failure due to an increase in the number and complexity of new standards and features. Traditional methods to repair these defects often require sending a flash drive or a service technician to the consumer’s home, both resulting in consumer inconvenience, high costs and, unsuccessful upgrade attempts. UpdateLogic’s UpdateTV technology and national broadcast network provide an effortless solution for automatically installing firmware upgrades without the downside of other solutions.

Prior to this advancement, DTV manufacturers have had to dedicate time and resources to integrate UpdateTV into their DTV products. Today’s UpdateLogic/Zoran agreement eliminates several months of engineering time and accelerates time to market for device manufacturers who can activate UpdateTV in their product lines with less than one person-day of engineering.
