Poland's 'n' has 544 thousand activations at end-Q1
Thursday, May 14th, 2009WARSAW — TVN Group, Poland’s leading media group, today announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2009. The Group reported year on year revenue growth of 8.4% on the back of strong growth in thematic channel subscription fees and the effect of consolidating 20 days of “n” platform’s results.
In March 2009 TVN took control over “n” DTH platform, increasing its stake to 51 %, an important step towards achieving the Group’s strategic initiative to diversify revenue away from advertising and to secure distribution for its content. “n” platform continues to grow rapidly and by the end of the first quarter of 2009 had signed up 549,000 postpaid subscribers of which over 544,000 had been activated, with ARPU of PLN 56 and in addition 180,000 prepaid subscribers with ARPU of PLN 10.43.
First quarter 2009 highlights:
- On March 11, 2009, we took control over Neovision Holding, the sole shareholder of ITI Neovision, which owns and operates the ‘n’ DTH platform including a new pre-paid digital television service, “Telewizja na kartę, or TNK”. We increased our direct ownership interest in Neovision Holding to 51%.
- The ‘n’ DTH platform increased its postpaid subscribers base by over 239,000 or 77,1% comparing with corresponding period of 2008. As of March 31, 2009, ‘n’ DTH platform had signed up over 549,000 postpaid subscribers of which over 544,000 had been activated. In March 2009 ‘n’ recorded a monthly ARPU of PLN 56, compared to PLN 56 in December 2008.
- “Telewizja na kartę” sold over 175,000 access cards and increased its prepaid subscribers base by over 88,000 in the three months ended March 31, 2009. As of March 31, 2009, TNK had 180,000 prepaid subscribers.
