The DXTPro Transcoders Offer Broadcast Equipment Providers With the Ability to Offer Mobile Broadcast Services Side-by-Side With HD for the Exploding Broadcast-to-Mobile Services Market

MILPITAS, CA — Magnum Semiconductor, the leader in professional-grade compression processors, will be demonstrating support for broadcast-to-mobile encoding, re-encoding and transcoding on its scalable multi-standard DXTPro platforms at the IBC 2009 show in Amsterdam. Demonstrations include simultaneous transcoding from MPEG-2 HD to AVC HD and from MPEG-2 HD to AVC low definition video resolutions for DVB-H, 1Seg or ATSC M/H, as well as simultaneous transrating of AVC HD and transsizing to low definition video resolutions.

The DXTPro processors are based on a scalable and flexible architecture, which delivers uncompromising video quality, highest channel-density and lowest bit rates. The programmable architecture supports HD, SD, sub-SD, multiple encoding standards, such as H.264/MPEG-4 Part 10 (AVC), MPEG-2 and VC-1, as well as multiple functions, such as encoding, re-encoding, transcoding and decoding.

“Our DXTPro re-encoders and transcoders are highly scalable and implement full decode-encode, transcoding, which delivers superior quality able to satisfy the expectations of even the most discriminating consumers, compared to traditional quantization-only based transcoders. Simultaneous transcoding between HD formats and between HD and low-definition formats offers broadcast equipment providers with unparalleled flexibility in their products and a low-risk, cost-effective way to tap into fast-growing new revenue streams,” said Gal Garniek, VP Marketing and Sales at Magnum Semiconductor.
