Magnalink Selects Motorola FTTH and IPTV Solutions for the Czech Republic

PARIS, France — Broadband World Forum Europe 2009 — Motorola, Inc (NYSE: MOT) today announced that Magnalink has chosen Motorola Home & Networks Mobility’s (H&NM) gigabit passive optical network (GPON) and IPTV set top solutions to deliver ultra-broadband services to municipalities within the city of Hradec Kralove in the Czech Republic. The new GPON FTTH network will enable the delivery of rich personalized media experiences while supporting fast Internet access and advanced IPTV services including the highest quality high definition (HD) television programming available to consumers today.

Working with solutions provider KonekTel, Motorola has supplied Magnalink with key products from its market leading FTTH and IPTV portfolios. As Magnalink looks to diversify its utility business to offer broadband and rich media services, it can draw from a wide array of Motorola GPON and VIP series set tops currently deployed by services providers throughout the world.

The Motorola products selected include the AXS1800 optical line terminal (OLT) which offers improved density and scalability allowing service providers like Magnalink to cost effectively deliver the highest quality video, voice and data into small and large markets. It also includes Motorola’s ONT1120 desktop optical network terminal (ONT), which is designed to deliver a full range of advanced services over an all-optical network. Magnalink has also selected Motorola’s market leading VIP1900 series IPTV set tops supporting HDTV and DVR which simplify the delivery of new personalized entertainment and communications services
