Open IPTV Forum (OIPF) Members to Demonstrate Elements of the OIPF Release 1 Specifications at IBC – Hall 12, Booth 501/504

Members of the OIPF are developing products and solutions based on the first release of the Forum specifications for end-to-end IPTV solutions, which were published earlier this year. At the OIPF booth (Hall 12, #501/504) at this year’s IBC, two OIPF members will demonstrate technologies based on elements of the Release 1 specifications:

  • Fraunhofer FOKUS will demonstrate the convergence of IPTV, telecommunications and community services including basic IPTV services such as LiveTV and VoD and advanced services as Incoming Call and interaction with VoD, See what I See, Watch the Same scenarios, Portal pages and Recommendations. The elements of the Release 1 specifications involved in the demonstration will be the Client Solution (OITF) with IMS signalling, IMS Core, Authentication & Session Management (ASM) and IPTV Control.
  • Netgem will demonstrate a User Interface and key Digital TV features (for example navigation, zapping, Recording, MediaCenter) based on scripting support and technologies from the specifications. The elements of the Release 1 specifications involved in the demonstration will mainly be from Volume 5, the Declarative Application Environment (DAE).

Other members of the Forum, including Verimatrix (Hall 5, #B45), Nokia Siemens Networks (Hall 12, # M153/154M) and Ericsson (Hall 1, #D61), will be demonstrating support for elements of the OIPF specifications on their individual company booths.

The OIPF Release 1 specifications are freely available for download at www.oipf.tv, and the Forum is now focusing on the development of Release 2. The Forum membership includes an ever-increasing number of key IPTV stakeholders, and those with a vested interest in IPTV are invited to support the drive towards IPTV standardisation; information regarding membership can be found at the website.

Chair of the OIPF, Yunchao Hu, said: “The first demonstration under the OIPF umbrella of technologies based on elements of our Release 1 Specifications is a significant step forward for the Forum. Since its inception, the Forum has demonstrated consistent progress towards its goal of open, end-to-end specifications for next generation IPTV, and the IBC demonstrations show progress not only within the Forum itself, but also within our individual member companies.”
