Sky Deutschland subscribers up 39k in 4Q09

MUNICH — In the first six months since the the launch of its new TV entertainment service on 4 July 2009, Sky Deutschland AG (XETRA: SKYD.DE) attracted 369,000 new customers to its service, up 26% compared to the second half of 2008. During this six-month period, net subscriber growth was 105,000 taking the total number of direct subscribers to 2.47 million on 31 December 2009. The awareness of the Sky brand exceeded 70 percent at the end of 2009.
In Q4 2009, net subscriber growth was 39,000. Gross additions amounted to 167,000.
For full year 2009, Sky achieved approximately 597,000 gross additions – an increase of 37% compared to full year 2008.
