France’s Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) has issued broadcasting licences to 13 private channels – BFM TV, Canal+, Direct 8, Europacorp TV, Eurosport France, Itella, M6, NRJ 12, NT1 Remix, Orange Sport Info, TF1, Virgin 17, W9 – that it has selected following a call for applications for DVB-H mobile television services (télévision mobile personnelle – TMP).
It has also granted licences to three public channels selected by the Government (France 2, France 3 and Arte).
These sixteen channels now have two months to submit jointly to the Council a new company, which will be entrusted with the technical operations necessary for the transmission and distribution of the programming.
