France: Digital TV market booming
Thursday, October 4th, 2007
Digital TV is now available in almost 30% of all French households.
The French digital terrestrial system, “Television Numerique Terrestre”, has been available since March 2005. Over the last two and a half years since its introduction, more than 2.5 million TV sets and 8 million digital receivers have been sold across the nation.
This positive trend is also set to continue, as 85% of French households expect to have a signal for digital television by the end of 2007 and around 95% of households by early 2011.
In terms of penetration, digital TV is proving to be as popular as DVDs and MP3 players in France.
