Abilis Systems Sets A New Benchmark For DTT Silicon Tuner
Wednesday, September 8th, 2010Abilis Systems introduces an innovative DTT tuner featuring the highest performance and cost effectiveness in the industry to fuel the worldwide digital TV and set-top box momentum. User experience includes picture-in-picture (PIP), multichannel visual programming guides and PVR applications
GENEVA, Switzerland — Abilis Systems, a Kudelski Group company, (SIX:KUD.S) and pioneer in RF semiconductor technology, introduces the AT810, the industry’s highest performing Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) silicon tuner for consumer products such as set-top boxes, PCTV, portable TVs, DVD players and automotive media appliances.
DTT is a fast growing digital television platform, enabling many households to access digital TV services for the first time. In many countries, it is now the predominant television reception platform and the advent of High-Definition (HD) TV and 3D television will further add to its popularity.
The AT810 performance and cost effectiveness is accelerating the adoption of the multiple receiver functionality to the DTT mass market. With multiple receivers, the user experience is enhanced thanks to functionalities such as picture-in-picture (PIP), multichannel visual programming guides and PVR applications.
Receiver selectivity is becoming a key feature as the analog switch-off around the world releases former TV spectrum for other uses – the so-called digital dividend. The AT810 provides unprecedented selectivity performance exceeding NorDig, D-Book and ARIB specifications.
The AT810 is a direct conversion, future proof, highly integrated, single-chip tuner optimized for worldwide terrestrial reception. Featuring completely automated radio control and virtually no external active components, it offers unprecedented levels of performance and power consumption matching the most stringent system requirements in the smallest form factor.
Furthermore, the AT810 sets a new standard for low power consumption at only 250mW maximum power dissipation, affording customers the flexibility and power budget of multiple tuner designs in one system. Measuring only 4x4mm in a 24-pin QFN package, Abilis’ AT810 tuner provides the smallest front-end for terrestrial reception.
In summary, the AT810 offers the perfect combination of outstanding RF performance, low power, and cost effectiveness, making it an ideal product for the many opportunities arising from the world wide growth of DTT.
Abilis Systems will demonstrate the AT810 at IBC2010 in Amsterdam on Nagra Kudelski booth 1C81.
