Licensing of Middleware for Deployment in Sinwatec Set-Top Boxes Enables Advanced CubiTV Functionality in a Combined Hardware/Software Package
WARSAW — Cubiware Sp. z o.o. today announced the launch of a middleware licensing agreement with Sinwatec, a Russian company specializing in electronic manufacturing services (EMS) and the development and production of electronic devices. Formerly known as Promsvyaz, Sinwatec is based in Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, and manufactures a line of set-top boxes for IPTV, cable, terrestrial, and media player applications. Under the new agreement, Sinwatec will become a reseller of Cubiware products, including CubiTV software that will run on Sinwatec manufactured hardware and offer the ability to work with the Cubiware back-office component CubiTV Portal.
By entering into a cooperative relationship with Sinwatec for Russian-speaking and Asian markets, Cubiware further extends its worldwide reach. The combined CubiTV-Sinwatec boxes will provide each company with a platform with which to demonstrate their respective products to full advantage.
“We are thrilled to be working with Sinwatec to bring the full potential of advanced pay-TV to additional markets,” says Jakub Górski, CEO of Cubiware. “Sinwatec’s reputation for value and innovation in this region will open doors for us and will provide an opportunity for pay-TV operators in this growing market to see first-hand what our CubiTV middleware and portal solutions have to offer.”
Sinwatec’s product line for pay-TV includes the powerful IPTV 103 HD STB, which handles full HD video playback and supports a complete feature set for the latest digital television capabilities, making it an ideal complement to CubiTV’s own advanced capabilities. CubiTV features a highly intuitive interface that makes it easy for subscribers to navigate advanced pay-TV functionality. It also includes a revolutionary graphics rendering engine that delivers fast, sleek menus and program guides with high-quality animation, transitions, and effects. Designed to run on low-power, small footprint DTV and IPTV processors from all major silicon vendors, the STB versions of CubiTV may be deployed on both modern and legacy devices, thereby minimizing the need for hardware replacement.
Sinwatec STBs running CubiTV will be on display at IBC in booth #4.C60.
