Pay TV subscribers up 10.6% year-on-year in Chile in Q2

Chile’s Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (Subtel) has released pay TV statistics to the end of June 2013. From the end of June 2012, satellite subscribers increased from 952,767 to 1,100,709 (up 15.5%) whereas wired (cable TV and IPTV) subscribers grew from 1,168,831 to 1,246,254 (up 6.6%), giving a total for the country of 2.347 million, up 10.6% year-on-year.

DIRECTV was the fastest growing service adding 31.9% to its subscriber total over the preceding 12 months.
