Wednesday, April 16th, 2014UTRECHT — Ziggo N.V. has released Q1 2014 results.
Consumer products & services
Subscribers to digital pay TV decreased by 16,000 during the first quarter. For the full year, the number of subscribers to digital Pay TV is down by 58,000, due to the difficult macro-environment, the switch from subscription-based to on-demand-based video consumption and increased competition from Over-The-Top premium TV providers.
The number of digital TV subscribers increased by 11,000 to 2.26 million in Q1, representing a penetration of 85.6% of our consumer customer base. The number of TV-only subscribers decreased by 22.7% compared to the same quarter last year, to a total of 697,000 as at March 31, 2014. The decrease was mainly due to the upsell of the dual play and triple play bundles to our TV-only subscribers as well as churn.
