Technisat Licenses S&T's RedKey MHEG engine

LONDON, UK — Strategy & Technology Client Systems Ltd (S&T Client Systems), specialists in interactive TV playout systems and MHEG middleware, has announced that TechniSat Digital GmbH, the leading German receiver equipment manufacturer, has licensed the company’s RedKey™ MHEG engine. Technisat, which is based in Daun/Eifel, Germany, has been operating for 20 years. It is the market leader in its home country and also operates across other European markets though this is its first venture into the UK. As well as receiver and related technologies the company also operates its own TV channel – TechniTipp TV – which explores and explains modern technologies.

TechniSat’s ambitions for the UK market are to provide a range of digital receivers, PVRs, satellite antennas, HDTV receivers and high definition, high-end iDTVs. “RedKey perfectly meets our requirements as an MHEG engine for Freeview and other opportunities. S&T is a competent company with extensive experience of both the client and headend software markets. This partnership provides opportunities for other markets including Germany, Austria and Switzerland,” explains Martin Cole, Managing Director/CTO, TechniSat Force Digital UK.

RedKey is the marketing leading MHEG-5 engine and was the first to fully support UK Profile 1.06. With over 23 million receivers* sold in the UK, Freeview has been an undoubted success. MHEG is now also deployed in New Zealand and has been specified by TVB in Hong Kong.
