- More choice, more localisation, new technology for regional broadcaster
CAMBRIDGE, UK — Finnish technology company Booxmedia, part of the Amino group, today announced a new deal with Belgian broadcaster RTL to provide, install and maintain a full end-to-end cloud video-on-demand (VOD) platform.
The new service will include transactional and subscription services, live streams and catch-up libraries branded as RTL “a l’infini” with around 1000 hours of content including children’s programming, Hollywood series and local news and programmes specifically targeting southern Belgium’s predominantly French-speaking Wallonia and Brussels regions.
“Our collaboration with RTL shows how leading TV broadcasters are able to bring their customers the latest multiscreen technology and viewing choices securely over the Internet,” says Booxmedia CEO Jukka Sintonen.
“Our white label OTT platform, including content transcoding, is flexible in that it’s quick to install, can be operated in specialist regional markets and yet be fully branded by the broadcaster. In this case we’re also rolling out a customised user interface for RTL across multiple devices,” he says.
The new service will be available across a range of devices including iOS, Android, Samsung Smart TVs and web browsers.
“We chose Booxmedia because of their experience with leading broadcasters and the end-to-end capability to deliver a fully functioning cloud TV solution, explains Marc Lellouche, Head of Digital Sales and VOD at RTL Belgium. “But more than that, we are now able to offer our viewers an enhanced experience, meeting their expectations of what a modern-day broadcaster should be, providing content on-the-go at a time, and on a device, that is most convenient for them,” he adds.
RTL “a l’infini” will be launched at the end of September.
