Viaccess acquires 100-percent stake in Orca Interactive

PARIS — Viaccess, a France Telecom subsidiary, signed an agreement to acquire 100-percent stake in Orca Interactive Ltd, an Israeli company listed on AIM London Stock Exchange, for an estimated price of 21.4 million US dollars.

The completion of the transaction is subject to conditions precedents and notably to the approval of the transaction by the extraordinary general meeting of Orca Intercative.

Orca Interactive is a leading provider of IPTV middleware and applications for broadband network operators and service providers. It empowers the operator to deliver broadcast TV, video on demand (VOD), personal video recording (PVR), home media and other compelling interactive services.

Viaccess is a leader in the field of content protection, with conditional access and DRM solutions delivered in more than 30 countries. In particular in IPTV protection, Viaccess is the European leader with over 1.2 million active subscribers.

This acquisition will allow Viaccess to seize the new opportunities of the TV and video markets, and to bring innovative solutions to content services operators such as broadcasters and telecom companies. Viaccess will offer to its clients the benefits of integrated products.
