NEW YORK — MediaMall Technologies Inc. today announced the launch of its PlayOn Cloud service and iOS app, which will empower users to record their favorite movies and TV shows from popular streaming services including Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu and HBO NOW to watch offline on an iPhone, iPad, PC or Mac.

PlayOn Cloud mobile app

PlayOn Cloud is a first-of-its-kind cloud-based Streaming Video Recorder that allows users to initiate and download recordings directly to their mobile device. Think of it as a DVR for streaming video. PlayOn immediately creates the recording in the cloud and keeps it there for 30 days, allowing users to download the recording to their mobile device or computer to watch anytime, anywhere. And with PlayOn’s AdSkip technology, users can watch recordings while automatically skipping over commercials.

PlayOn Cloud mobile app allows users to record streaming shows and movies in the cloud and download them to their phone, tablet, PC or Mac for ad-free, offline viewing.

“The PlayOn Cloud iOS app takes our revolutionary Streaming Video Recorder to the next level and untethers it from the PC,” said Jeff Lawrence, president and CEO of PlayOn. “We are now offering streamers something they’ve always wanted – a way to watch their favorite streaming programming on their mobile device when no internet is available. This is a game changer for commuters, travelers, users with mobile data caps and those who don’t want to miss movies and TV shows when they expire from streaming services.”

At launch, the PlayOn Cloud iOS app will allow users to record from Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu, Yahoo! View, HBO NOW, YouTube, NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, PBS and The CW. PlayOn Cloud users who have existing accounts with the paid streaming channels can record content from those services. Future updates will bring more streaming channels to the app. An Android app is in development.

The PlayOn Cloud iOS app is available now as a free download from the Apple App Store. To record media, PlayOn Cloud users can purchase recording credits for $0.99 each, with each credit allowing them to record a full show or movie.

PlayOn is offering a special launch promotion offering five free recording credits to anyone who downloads the app and creates and validates their account before Sunday, November 13 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
