BERLIN and HASSELT, Belgium — castLabs, a global pioneer in premium digital video technology, has partnered with Zappware to provide an end-to-end premium video delivery solution for WIND VISION, a new TV service by WIND Hellas, the first in Greece with both Android TV and Netflix.

Leveraging Zappware’s cloud-based back office technology and sleek user interface alongside castLabs’ PRESTOplay feature-rich video player SDKs and DRMtoday multi-DRM licensing service, WIND Hellas’ multi-screen service can be enjoyed by subscribers via set top box devices, mobile devices, and Android TV.

“DRMtoday is already trusted by telecommunications companies to deliver billions of licenses worldwide. We’re pleased that in this deployment, our cloud-based DRM licensing service will enable WIND VISION to support all leading DRM technologies through one integration, making playback of protected content seamless. Our license delivery network, built on low latency, highly redundant AWS infrastructure, ensures minimal playback disruption for WIND VISION users,” said Michael Stattmann, CEO of castLabs.

“Additionally, our PRESTOplay video player SDKs have enabled the development of feature-rich bespoke players for high quality playback on Android TV with 4K HDR, and both iOS and Android smartphone and tablet devices.”

“Zappware was able to leverage some great opportunities that new technologies offer: firstly, in this deployment for WIND, we are combining DVB and OTT in one hybrid Android TV box. Secondly, by using Android TV, the integration of third party content from e.g. Netflix and YouTube is done in an efficient way, resulting in a great user experience. Thirdly, our AWS based cloud back-office serves the Android TV boxes as well as the mobile devices with WIND’s new multiscreen TV service. This is a very scalable, flexible and future-proof architecture,” said Patrick Vos, CEO of Zappware.

Together, Zappware and castLabs technologies provide both streaming service operators and telecommunications companies a full end-to-end video solution incorporating video back-office functions, video processing, video playback, and a DRM licensing service for your workflow.
