Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

HALIFAX, NS — Bell Aliant Regional Communications Income Fund (Bell Aliant or the Fund) (TSX: BA.UN) today reported distributions to its unit holders of $92.1 million or $0.725 per unit for the quarter ended June 30, 2008.

During the second quarter of 2008, we enhanced our Aliant TV service by improving stability, digital picture clarity and making the service available on up to three TVs in the subscriber’s home. We continued to expand our high-speed Internet footprint in all regions as well as our FTTN build-out, and we now offer IPTV and other enhanced services to approximately 205,000 homes in Atlantic Canada.

With respect to Aliant TV, our IPTV service, subscribers increased by almost 25 per cent this quarter with just over 17,000 customers. This represents penetration of approximately 8 per cent of the 205,000 homes now in our fibre-to-the-node footprint. Finally in the quarter we also added Aliant TV to our local service value packages, giving customers the ability to subscribe to Aliant TV without high-speed Internet. We are continuing the evolution of our TV service and in the coming quarters we will have additions to our pay-per-view line-up and the introduction of high definition and PVR.
