BELFAST, UK, & GENEVA, Switzerland — IBC 2008 — Latens, the market leader in next generation software Conditional Access (CA) and Middleware for Pay-TV, and Advanced Digital Broadcast S.A. (ADB) (SWX:ADBN), a leading supplier of digital TV systems and software solutions for interactive television, today announce the successful integration of Latens ECOsystem (ECO) 4.0 with the ADB 5810 series of set-top boxes (STB), delivering a state of the art TV viewing experience. ECO 4.0 integrated with ADB set top boxes enhances the middleware and conditional access functionality and performance, providing operators with the leading and most cost effective IPTV offering available.

The combination of ADB’s advanced high performance IP set top boxes and Latens ECO 4.0, offer many advantages for both operator and subscriber, including a more compelling viewer experience with richer content, advanced graphics and an enhanced EPG. The new features of ECO 4.0 middleware and conditional access are leveraged through the leading edge functionality and capabilities of ADB’s 5810 series of STB’s.

The ADB-5810TWX is the first set-top box in the series to be integrated with Latens ECO 4.0, and will be available for demonstration at IBC 2008. The ADB-5810TWX is an advanced, interactive Digital Video Recorder (DVR) optimized for IPTV, supporting high-quality digital recording and playback. This High Definition IPTV set-top box also has home networking capabilities and supports H.264 enabling operators to provide additional revenue-generating services.

ECO is a high performance, state of the art IPTV service delivery solution that combines middleware and conditional access functions in a single platform. ECO is highly customisable, allowing operators to adapt the system to their unique competitive demands and to continue to innovate as their business develops. It can also be deployed as a pre-configured system, allowing operators to get to market quickly and at a lower cost.

“Integrating our 5810 and other series with Latens ECO 4.0 has many advantages both for us and for the Pay TV operator, as the advanced capabilities of our IP set top boxes are maximised through the efficiency of Latens middleware. The integration was achieved using ADB’s SDK that was made available to our partners this year. A lot of effort was put to provide state-of-the-art features and performance APIs, so together we can deliver best in the class product operators. We are happy that ECO 4.0 is fully utilising the capabilities of our product, and we are already in discussion about further upgrades”, said Jim Lomax, Executive VP Worldwide Sales & Marketing, ADB.

“We are pleased to announce another strong integration between ADB and Latens. IPTV operators need a proven and tested integration between the core elements of their offering; the tight integration of ADB set tops with our ECO 4.0, combined middleware and conditional access, assures operators that the IPTV service they deploy will be a success, while reducing the additional cost and pain of integrations.” said Jean-Paul Heron, Client Integration Manager, Latens. “This integration builds on the global successes between Latens world class conditional access and middleware and ADB set top boxes, and I look forward to our continued success.”
