IBC, Amsterdam — Global provider of conditional access solutions, Conax, will highlight its latest technology successes at IBC including Conax Chipset Pairing combined with technology from the leading providers of watermarking solutions.

To address the growing threat of illegal content redistribution, Conax, together with the leading vendors of watermarking technology, now provides the digital pay-TV market with a state-of-the-art security solution for protecting and tracking content – even after it is sold. Conax provides operators with a tool to locate the source of redistribution, back to the original subscriber.

The new solution creates a barrier to potential theft where pre-defined content is only released to client devices that support the Conax Chipset Pairing and watermarking solution. The combination of chipset pairing and watermarking technology enables operators and content providers to make content traceable back to the subscriber’s client device. Should illegal redistribution occur, the content can be analyzed to identify the subscriber. Access to further content can be denied if theft is detected.

“We are confident that by successfully integrating Conax advanced chipset pairing technology with leading watermarking solutions, Conax can furnish digital TV operators and content providers with even stronger security including the ultimate tool for fighting illegal redistribution of premium content,” says Geir Bjørndal, COO/Sales & Marketing Director, Conax. “The new solution sends a message to the market that thieves can be identified if illegally redistributed content is detected, and legal action can be taken.”
