Taiwan's NCC releases 2024 Communications Market Report

Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) has released the 2024 edition of its Communications Market Report.
The report represents the NCC’s eighth annual survey and analysis of both the international and domestic telecommunications and broadcasting industries.
Over the years, such reports have not only provided statistical data on the industry’s supply side, but also included market surveys on the demand side, offering a thorough understanding of the current status and trends in both the telecommunications and broadcastings markets.
Cable TV remains the main source of viewing television
When asked about the main source of viewing television, most respondents answered “Cable TV (Pay TV Channels),” with the ratio slightly declining from 64.3% in 2020 to 58.3% in 2024.
The percentage of “CHT MOD” answers has grown from 13.1% in 2020 to 17.4% in 2024; meanwhile, the ratio of “OTT TV” answers has jumped from 4.4% in 2017 to 16% in 2024, having passed “Terrestrial Television” answers to be the third since 2020; the proportion of “Terrestrial Television” answers has declined from 17.1% in 2017 to 7.5% in 2024.
