UAE's du invests AED 100 Million to upgrade network infrastructure

DUBAI — Breaking new ground in network infrastructure, ‘du’, the UAE’s integrated telecom service provider, has upgraded its IP-based core network to 40 Gbps. This will make the du network one of the fastest networks in the Middle East.
For residential customers, this upgrade will enable du to offer a new era of Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) where customer will enjoy enhanced capabilities like high definition (HD) TV, Video-on-demand and instant channel change, allowing customers to enjoy a new dimension in digital entertainment.
du has opted for Cisco Systems’ Carrier Routing System (CRS-1) as the platform on its IP core network, which is designed to enable continuous system operation, unprecedented service flexibility, and system longevity to support various services.
du Fibre to the Home (FTTH) network is enjoyed by customers living in most new real estate developments in new Dubai areas which are served by du for fixed services. Only customers living in these areas enjoy a 100% fiber-to-the-home network and quality high speed internet services, IPTV services and more. Customers here can enjoy high speed internet applications such as Gaming and other such applications which require high bandwidth.
