Digital Electronics Manufacturer Expands Relationship with Largest Satellite Service Provider in the United States

HUMAX (Kosdaq:028080) announced today that the company has been selected as an official supplier of high-definition (HD) digital video recorder (DVR) set top boxes (STB) to DIRECTV, Inc. (Nasdaq:DTV). Having previously supplied standard definition (SD) and SD DVR receivers to DIRECTV, HUMAX has now positioned itself to be a supplier of STBs across all categories in the United States.

“This agreement will provide HUMAX with a significant opportunity for a long-lasting development relationship with DIRECTV, the largest satellite television service provider in the U.S. market. Not only has this opportunity occurred as HD broadcasts are rapidly expanding on a global level, but it is expected to allow our company to raise its corporate recognition within the global HD set-top box market.” said Chris Cudina, Senior Vice President of Humax USA Inc.

Although the parties did not reveal the terms of this development relationship, HUMAX company officials announced that they plan to start shipment of the products within the first half of 2009. DIRECTV, the largest satellite television service provider in the U.S., has more than 17.1 million subscribers and is a leading HD television service providing over 130 HD channels.
