Telefonica Europe pay TV subscribers continue to decline
May 8, 2013 — Telefónica (Madrid and NYSE: TEF) has released its first quarter (January to March) 2013 results. Pay TV accesses in Latin America reached 2.5 million, up 7% year-on-year. In Europe pay TV subscribers declined to 852 thousand from 1.03 million at the end of March 2012, a fall of 17%.

DIRECTV surpasses 16 million subscriber mark in Latin America
May 7, 2013 — DIRECTV (NASDAQ:DTV) has announced results for the first quarter of 2013. DIRECTV U.S. subscribers were stable at around 20 million. DTVLA added 583,000 to end with 10.91 million subscribers and Sky Mexico had 5.41 million subscribers as of March 31, 2013.

Colombia adds 440,000 pay TV subscribers in 2012
Mar 1, 2013 — Colombia’s Autoridad Nacional de Televisión (ANTV) has published pay TV subscriber figures for the country up to December 2012. The total number of subscribers grew from 3.87 million at the end of 2011, to 4.31 million at the end of 2012, a year-on-year growth rate of 11.3%.

Feb 28, 2013 — Telefónica (Madrid and NYSE: TEF) has released its fourth quarter and 2012 results. The company finished 2012 with 3.3 million pay TV subscribers, 0.8% up on the end of 2011. Losses in Europe and Brazil were offset by growth elsewhere in Latin America.

DIRECTV Latin America subscribers up 31% in 2012; U.S. flat at 20 million
Feb 14, 2013 — DIRECTV (NASDAQ:DTV) has reported results for the fourth quarter of 2012. DIRECTV U.S. ended the quarter with 20.08 million subscribers, an increase of 1% compared with December 31, 2011. DTVLA ended the quarter with 10.33 million subscribers, an increase of 31% compared with the end of 2011.

América Móvil adds 540,000 pay TV subscribers in Brazil in 4Q 2012
Feb 12, 2013 — América Móvil (BMV;NYSE:AMX;NASDAQ:AMOV;LATIBEX:XAMXL) has announced results for the fourth quarter of 2012. The company finished the year with 16.4 million Pay TV subscribers, with Brazil, on its own, adding 540,000 in the fourth quarter.

Colombia's ETB targets IPTV launch for 3Q 2013
Feb 6, 2013 — In an interview with Dinero.com, the President of Colombia's Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogotá (ETB) has said that the company will launch its IPTV service in the second half of this year, most likely in August or September.
