Announces mass production of new models targeting Japanese and Latin American Smartphone and Feature phone markets

LAKE FOREST, Calif. — Newport Media, an innovative fabless communications semiconductor company supplying products to the wireless connectivity and broadcast media industry, today announced major design wins at several of the world’s leading suppliers of Smartphone and Feature phone cellular products.

Available in Latin America, new models using SoCs from Newport Media include the Motorola EX139, LG Electronics X350 (both dual SIM feature phones) and the Samsung Galaxy YTV S5357 Android Smartphone. In Japan, network operators have selected several Newport Media Digital TV enabled Android Smartphones including NTT DoCoMo’s SC-06D Galaxy III from Samsung, KDDI’s ISW13HT from HTC and Softbank’s 009Z from ZTE.

With the industry’s broadest portfolio of Mobile TV SoCs, Newport Media is experiencing rapid growth in demand for its complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) system on chip (SoC) solutions addressing the market for Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial (ISDB-T) based Mobile TV handsets. Newport Media provides a number of ISDB-T products that integrates RF TV Tuner and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) /Analog demodulation into a single die. Several ISDB-T products from Newport Media also include hardware based H.264 audio/video decoding functionality.
