- New Integrated Solution Reduces Customer’s Time-To-Market and Protects High-Value Content
AMSTERDAM — IBC (Connected World Hall 14, Booth 160) — MobiTV, a global leader in enabling delivery of live and on-demand TV everywhere, today announced it is collaborating with Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL) and EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ: SATS), a supplier of added-value, connected device solutions to the digital TV industry. Expanding MobiTV’s footprint inside the home, its Digital Rights Management (DRM) agent and Marvell-powered media player are now integrated into EchoStar set-top boxes to ensure secure delivery of high-quality video content. As such, the collaboration now allows both companies to offer a truly end-to-end ecosystem to operators that is pre-integrated and pre-certified thus significantly reducing time to market.
“The light-weight Android set-top box will be crucial to the next evolution of true TV everywhere in and out of the home,” said Charlie Nooney, CEO at MobiTV. “Our efforts with Marvell and EchoStar enable delivery of secure, premium content via the latest Android set-top boxes. By providing a comprehensive, integrated set-top box solution, we are helping cable, satellite and broadband providers decrease their time-to-market and capitalize on emerging multiscreen revenue opportunities.”
Lowering the total cost of ownership for multiscreen solutions, MobiTV’s cloud-based DRM agent is integrated into the EchoStar set-top box via Marvell’s award-winning ARMADA® 1500 family of HD media processors. Located within Marvell’s dedicated ARM® TrustZone®, the DRM agent provides lower-level encryption for protection of premium content, enabling EchoStar to deliver a truly secure, comprehensive solution to its customers.
“By integrating MobiTV’s DRM solution on a deeper layer, we’re able to provide our customers superior security assurance, while also delivering an optimal digital viewing experience with minimal upfront costs,” said Mark Jackson, president of EchoStar Technologies. “We foresee many opportunities in the future to further integrate our technologies to deliver innovative, engaging applications and services to customers to help them unlock the true potential of multiscreen digital entertainment inside the home.”
