Single Software Solution Supports both IPDC and OMA BCAST SCP

Barcelona, Spain – Mobile World Congress 2008 — Silicon & Software Systems Ltd. (S3), the world’s leading provider of mobile TV client software, and Irdeto (JSE: NPN), the proven expert in content security for digital TV, IPTV and mobile, today announced a joint software solution that allows mobile TV handset manufacturers to support both IPDC OSF and Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) BCAST in a single solution.

S3 and Irdeto can now provide a complete solution to mobile device manufacturers that support both the OMA BCAST smartcard profile security solution and the IPDC OSF solution. The solution was developed in close partnership and proven at various interoperability tests, including the first successful industry test at the Broadcast Mobile Convergence Forum (BMCO) Test Camp last summer in Berlin, Germany. Based on open standards for broad market support, S3’s onHandTV™ client integrates Irdeto’s OSF and BCAST security components into their complete mobile TV software solution.

John Maguire, general manager of Consumer Mobile at S3 commented, “We believe that service protection is an important requirement for the emerging mobile TV market. Integrating Irdeto’s security clients into our onHandTV™ software has allowed us to demonstrate more comprehensive mobile TV solutions to our mobile operator and broadcaster clients. By offering an IPDC and BCAST solution in a single package, we are addressing our customers short and long term requirements for the mobile TV market. Working with leading partners like Irdeto is helping enable deployment of commercial networks in 2008 and 2009.”

“Irdeto continuously strives to reduce the integration efforts for mobile device manufacturers. By integrating our service protection solution with S3’s market-leading onHandTV™ mobile TV client, our customers can very rapidly deploy end-to-end secure solutions on handsets and other non-connected devices,” stated Doug Lowther, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Irdeto. “Combining the IPDC OSF and OMA BCAST smartcard profiles is yet another module of our complete service and content protection solutions for mobile TV.”

Irdeto is exhibiting at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from 11-14 February 2008.
