Expway Expands Its Ecosystem for the Delivery of Live Video to the Home over Mobile Networks Using LTE Multicast
- Technicolor has integrated Expway’s LTE Multicast middleware in Hybrid-OTT set top boxes
BARCELONA, Spain — Mobile World Congress 2015 — Expway, the world leader in Mobile Broadcast and Mobile Multicast Solutions, today announced that its LTE Multicast middleware — also known as eMBMS (evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services) — is now available on a Technicolor (Paris:TCH) Over-the-top (OTT) set-top-box. The result of this integration has been successfully tested on the Ericsson LTE Multicast platform.
With LTE Multicast, users who have experienced poor or non-existent fixed broadband access can now get live HD-quality TV on their large TV sets over their LTE Networks.
Thanks to Expway software architecture, Technicolor Hybrid-OTT will be also able to deliver the LTE-multicasted TV content over Wifi to all tablets at home.
“The objective of this collaboration is to add a disruptive use case by combining multiple means of video distribution over fixed, mobile and terrestrial unicast and multicast technologies,” said Expway Chief Marketing Officer Claude Seyrat. “Technicolor is one of the key players in the industry, and Expway is proud to have its solution selected for their set-top-box, to be ready for the upcoming LTE Multicast deployments.”
The solution will be demonstrated at MWC 2015 at Technicolor booth Hall 2 Stand 2EMR.I4, Expway booth Hall 8.1 Stand 8.1.D41 and Ericsson booth Hall 2 Stand 2N60.
