Friday, September 4th, 2015
Vodafone Portugal has today become the first television operator in the world to launch a TV service using a smartwatch. The service allows a customer to watch live TV on their wrist.
Initially, the service is only available for the Sony SmartWatch 3 which, in addition to being used as a screen for TV, can be used as a remote control. It also provides access to the TV guide and Vodafone’s video store catalogue of movies.
The Vodafone TV app for smartwatch, which must be installed to use the service, is now available on Google Play, with plans to launch shortly for other smartwatches like Apple Watch.
The Sony SmartWatch 3 is available in Vodafone stores for €199.90, or free as part of a the company’s Tv Net Voz package.
