STUTTGART, Germany — 3 Screen Solutions (3SS), leading provider of software solutions for set-top box (STB) and multiscreen digital entertainment, announces being chosen by Uruguayan cable and OTT service provider TCC to help develop its next generation TV service to launch in 2020.
TCC’s new service will be powered by 3READY Android TV + Multiscreen, 3SS’ award-winning front end and UI framework solution featuring an Android TV Custom Launcher STB.
TCC has decided to build its upcoming service based on increasingly popular Android TV™ Operator Tier, Google’s proposition for service providers who wish to deliver advanced TV products featuring the vast array of attractive apps in the Google Play Store and Google Chromecast pre-integrated, alongside Google Assistant. A key benefit is that TCC will engage with subscribers via a branded, customizable launcher and UI.
Moreover, TCC will incorporate 3SS´s front end solution into its SaaS platform for the pay-TV industry in the region. By these means, TCC will extend its technology, user experience and quality standards to other network operators in the region in order to increase its current offer, now with more than 200,000 subscribers.
Furthermore, 3SS will carry out Google Assistant Android TV integration, along with enabling 3READY Assistant, 3READY’s innovation which further enriches voice search.
Voice control using Google Assistant has become an everyday experience for millions; 3READY Assistant takes voice activation even further, to help service providers differentiate from “standard” Google Assistant integration. 3READY Assistant enables conversational content discovery and deepens the operator-subscriber relationship.
With 3READY Assistant, service providers can create bespoke value-adding sets of commands to trigger a diversity of actions in the app which the viewer might like to do – from customer support-related actions like billing queries to PVR instructions and management of advanced parental controls – all customizable in any Google Assistant-compatible language.
3READY is optimized for Android TV projects; it is pre-engineered to deliver today’s most compelling functional requirements, so an operator can introduce branded services more rapidly than previously possible.
The 3READY Custom Launcher enables operators to reap the maximum potential of their Android TV deployments. With customization and branding, viewers can enjoy a much richer user experience than with a Standard Launcher. The seamless integration of Netflix and all Google TV Services such as YouTube, Google Play Store, Google Assistant and Chromecast means that TCC’s subscribers will enjoy a leading-edge, all-embracing entertainment service.
TCC has also chosen to deploy 3READY Control Center, whose targeting and A/B testing capabilities empower operators to quickly and clearly understand what new features will appeal to viewers, leading to faster and more successful product enhancements and launches. Furthermore, TCC will be able to realize operational efficiencies through the ability to remotely manage all STB and Multiscreen apps in a unified way, all from one location.
The solution for TCC will draw on 3SS’ unmatched track record in major international Android-based system deployments. This includes Swisscom TV 2.0 in 2014, since updated to Swisscom TV OS3, and Canal Digital OnePlace and Com Hem TV Hub, both launched in 2018.
“TCC has joined the growing population of service providers around the world who recognize that Android TV enables them to seamlessly deliver a next-generation service with all the most desirable apps and services in an open source environment,” said Kai-Christian Borchers, Managing Director at 3SS.
“By additionally choosing to deploy 3READY Multiscreen alongside Android TV, TCC will be able to reap maximum commercial benefit from its soon-to-launch service, while providing its subscribers a world class entertainment experience,” he added.
3READY is continually being enhanced through 3SS’ strong, day-to-day relationship with Google, which showcased 3READY as reference front-end in its popular Android TV Operator Tier program at CES 2019, MWC 2019, and IBC 2018 and 2019.
