Digital television now in 40% of Dutch households

According to Stichting KijkOnderzoek (SKO), the Dutch Audience Research Foundation, the rising penetration of LCD / plasma displays (28%) and hard drive recorders (13%) in Dutch households has been accompanied by a growth in digital television (from 35% to 40%) in the first half of 2008.
The percentage of traditional analog cable has continued to decrease from 78 to 73 percent. The penetration of Digitenne has increased from 5 to 7 percent. Digital reception by means of IPTV and satellite remained stable at respectively 2 and 8 per cent of households.
Hard Disk, DVD and video recorders
The percentage of hard disk recorders in Dutch households has increased from 10 to 13 percent – the VCR continues to concede more and more ground. 59 percent of households have a DVD player with 17 percent having a DVD recorder.
Watching television via the Internet
The percentage of households that have watched television via the PC is 26 percent. 86 percent of these households watch on-demand streams of television programmes (missed broadcasts), 11 percent watch live television streams.
