Germany's pay TV revenue exceeds €2 billion in 2013
Tuesday, July 8th, 2014According to a new report ‘Pay-TV in Deutschland 2014’ released by Verband Privater Rundfunk und Telemedien (VPRT) representing private broadcasters in Germany, there were 6.4 million pay TV subscribers in Germany at the end of 2013. Adding in Austria and the German-speaking parts of Switzerland takes the total to 7.1 million.
At the end of 2012 Germany had 6.0 million subscribers, giving an increase of 400,000 during 2013.

Revenue from Pay TV subscriptions and video-on-demand sales was €2.05 billion in Germany in 2013, up from €1.89 billion in 2012. For the German-speaking region as a whole, revenue was €2.20 billion in 2013, up from €2.00 billion in 2012. Revenue stagnated during the 2005-2010 period but more recently has been growing significantly.
