CORK, Ireland — Digisoft.tv, the specialist middleware applications company, is to launch its new CastOS framework at IBC. Aimed at the Telco market, the service simplifies and reduces the costs of any OTT/IPTV deployment. The CastOS framework leverages existing consumer electronics by coupling them with the operators’ smartphones. It takes the casting paradigm beyond basic video on demand services, delivering linear TV without the truck roll.
The CastOS framework allows service providers to “cast” without worrying about the underlying protocols on the target connected devices, delivering a carrier grade linear TV replacement with VOD and cloud DVR across multiple devices. Service providers can choose one of three deployment options. The Hybrid option allows Telco’s to deliver a traditional 10ft TV user experience via a mobile phone. The advanced service covers Live TV, VOD and cloud DVR and allows the consumer to interact with their TV with “One Click”. They can download the app and cast in minutes.
Next stage deployments include, dongle and remote control, a low cost device implementation for the family, with optional voice control. The voice search feature gives fast accurate results, overcoming the limitations of TV search interfaces.
“We are really excited about this breakthrough which we believe represents the future of IPTV”, said Fearghal Kelly, CEO of Digisoft.tv. “CastOS connects our mobile application to multiple devices. Mobile phones are the gateway to unconverted customers and increased ARPU, and are central to a software based TV strategy. Telco’s have lots of protocols and platforms to deliver their services on, costing time and money. CastOS cuts across all of these issues and delivers future proof TV.”
Digisoft.Tv will unveil the CastOS Framework at their stand at IBC in Hall 14, Connected World stand 14: E27.
