Newport Media Announces Acquisition of Mobile TV Middleware Developer WRG

Leading Supplier of DVB-T/H Middleware Significantly Enhances Newport Media’s Ability to Bring Optimized Turn-Key Mobile TV Systems Solutions to Market

Lake Forest, California — Newport Media, an innovative fabless semiconductor company supplying products to the mobile broadcast media market, today announced the acquisition of industry leading DVB-T/H middleware company WRG Inc. Based in Bundang, Korea. WRG Inc. specializes in software products and services for multi-media and digital TV enabled mobile handsets.

With over 70 SW (software) Engineers from top tier Korean universities, WRG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Newport Media Inc, will focus on extending its leadership position in mobile TV middleware beyond its Jelly DVB-T/H solution to include middleware for ISDB-T, MediaFLO and other major standards.
