VIACCESS, in partnership with Sagem-Orga, launches a security solution dedicated to the new generations of 'OMA BCAST Smart Card Profile' mobile phones

VIACCESS, European leader in content protection in IPTV and Sagem-Orga, one of the world leaders in smartcards, joined forces for the integration of a solution intended to new generations of mobile phones.

The mobile handsets range is one of the pillars of mobile operators strategy to launch new services, attract and develop customers loyalty. It is, indeed, with an always more innovative handset range, new and richer services, that operators can seduce new customers and develop their loyalty.

Taking into account those market needs and the complexity of new mobile phone services, VIACCESS has developed a new version of its Purple TV conditional access solution compatible with all handsets complying with the OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile standard: a true technological challenge!

To fight against piracy in an effective manner through an end to end solution, VIACCESS has developed a set of security extensions which are integrated into Sagem Orga SIM cards. This solution will allow to protect efficiently mobile TV contents from any hacking attempt.

To ensure the compatibility with widest range of handsets, VIACCESS participates and will continue to participate in the ‘test fests’ organized by the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA).

Ahead of commercial launch and in order to guarantee the highest security level, VIACCESS and Sagem Orga will have their solution audited by an independent third party laboratory specialized in IT security. The first commercial version, currently in test, will be available from Q3 2008.

The solution will be showcased at the 2008 GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 11-14th on the booth of VIACCESS (Main Avenue, AV 28) and of Sagem Orga (Hall 8, B 76).
