CLIFFORD, ONT – Wightman Telecom, a Canadian independent telephone company and CLEC serving a number of communities in the counties of Bruce, Grey, Huron, Wellington and Perth, Ontario has begun rolling out MPEG-4 HD IPTV services using Conklin-Intracom’s fs|cdn™ solution.

“We are excited to further grow our installed base with quality customers such as Wightman Telecom. It is the vision of such forward-looking carriers to deliver cutting edge services which drives the IPTV industry. Developments in MPEG-4 and HD technologies have created huge opportunities for Telcos seeking to provide video to a customer base eager for new choices. We are pleased to deliver these solutions to such a dynamic market which continues to grow in response to customer demand for one-stop shopping for voice/data & video services to the home,” states David Hunt, VP fs|cdn Americas for Conklin-Intracom.

Wightman Telecom has started deploying these services to customers reached with their new fiber to the home initiative, as well as those served via existing copper infrastructure via xDSL. Initial marketing efforts estimate they may expect to receive 50% penetration over the first year.

“Conklin-Intracom has proven to be a strategic value-added partner in Wightman’s triple play plans,” comments Tom Sullivan, Wightman’s Vice President and General Manager since 2001. “They are a resource we continue to call on as we expand our efforts to include VOD and other enhanced services such as on screen chat, etc.”
