India's GSAT-16 communications satellite launched successfully
Dec 7, 2014 – According to ISRO, India's communication satellite, GSAT-16, has been successfully launched from Kourou, French Guiana. GSAT-16 is a geostationary communication satellite which will carry 24 C-band, 12 Ku-band and 12 Upper Extended C-band transponders.

South Indian MSOs to form Federation
Nov 24, 2014 – MSOs in Southern India are planning to form a South Indian Federation. The federation will launch officially in December in Kerala. The group is looking at developing common platforms using a single middleware in order to reduce the cost of providing value added services.

India registers 2.75 million additional DTH subscribers in 2Q 2014
Nov 7, 2014 – The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released telecoms statistics for the second quarter. The total number of DTH subscribers was 67.57 million registered and 38.24 million active at 30th June 2014.

Bharti Airtel adds 151,000 TV customers in 3Q 2014
Oct 30, 2014 – Bharti Airtel has announced results for its second quarter ended September 30, 2014. On September 30, 2014, the Company had 9.5 million Digital TV customers, an increase of 11.3% compared to the corresponding quarter last year. Net customer additions were 151,000.

Dish TV India adds 378k subs in Q3; considers local STB manufacturing
Oct 29, 2014 – Dish TV India (BSE:532839, NSE:DISHTV) has reported second quarter fiscal 2015 results. Dish TV added 378,000 net subscribers during the quarter to finish with a net subscriber base of 12.1 million at end-September. Dish TV said that it is considering plans for domestic manufacturing of STBs.
