NorDig releases a DVB-T2 specification
Wednesday, July 1st, 2009NorDig has specified the minimum requirements for receivers that can receive NorDig compliant signals based on the DVB-T2 specification. The chairman of the sub-group was Kari Risberg from the Finnish network operator, Digita.
NorDig is specifying a common platform for Digital Television to be used within the Nordic region (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden).
The terrestrial broadcast networks in the Nordic region are all served by DVB-T based broadcasts, and the analogue broadcasts have already been shut off in most of the region (all of Finland and Sweden, as well as most of Norway). In some of the countries, introduction of HDTV and MPEG-4 AVC may be combined with the introduction of transmissions based on DVB-T2, while a migration from DVB-T to DVB-T2 is being considered in the other countries.
