ITU symposium to mark switchover from analogue to digital TV
Jun 1, 2015 – The deadline for the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting, set for 17 June 2015, is applicable for all countries belonging to ITU Region-1 and Iran. ITU will mark this milestone with a symposium at its headquarters in Geneva.

iTEAM carry out UHD-1 Phase-2 trials over DVB-T2 in Spain
May 28, 2015 – Researchers at the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM) of the Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain, have carried out the first transmission trials using DVB-T2 with the Ultra HD format known as 'UHD-1 Phase-2'.

70% of Ultra HD TVs to feature HDR or other enhancements by 2020
May 15, 2015 – ​ABI Research expects that by 2020 nearly 70% of UHD TVs will support new technologies and enhancements like HDR, wider color gamut, high frame rates, and immersive audio. This could prove too conservative if a lower tier of UHD TVs does not persist as currently anticipated.

EBU says LTE not a viable alternative to DTT distribution

Comcast video subscribers down 144,000 in 2Q 2014

Number of pay TV operators in Europe falls 5.8% in 2013
Jul 16, 2014 – The European Audiovisual Observatory has published the second volume of the 2013 edition of its Yearbook. In 2013, the pay-TV sector had 7,898 operators in 37 countries - a significant reduction in their number compared with 2009 (8,381, or -5.8%).

Comcast adds 24,000 billable video customers in 1Q 2014
