China - Cable DTV Subscribers Reach 40 million
Oct 9, 2008 – China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has said that 33 cities and regions had completed DTV conversion projects as of August, bringing the number of digital cable subscribers nationwide to more than 40 million.

22.4 million IPTV subscribers expected in Asia-Pac by 2013
Oct 8, 2008 – New analysis from Frost & Sullivan reveals that the IPTV subscriber base in Asia-Pacific reached 4.1 million in 2007 and estimates this to reach 22.4 million by end-2013, at a compound annual growth rate of 32.7 percent (2007-2013).

Spain - October DTT monthly update released
Oct 8, 2008 – According to Impulsa-TDT, the latest estimate of DTT penetration provided by market research company Sofres shows that DTT was in 38.8% of (more than 6 million) Spanish households at the end of September.

Witbe measures a worldwide channel change time below 1.9 seconds
Oct 7, 2008 – Witbe has carried out a study of digital TV services (via DSL, cable, FTTH, satellite and DTT), looking at 30 operators in 16 countries on 4 continents. The average channel change time measured using P+/P- was 1.9 seconds.

Romania - Boom TV reaches 200,000 subscribers
Oct 7, 2008 – Romanian satellite TV operator, Boom TV, has exceeded 200,000 customers, up 300% from the same period last year. Boom is the brand of the DTH Television Grup.

Sweden - Strong competition for Boxer in Q3
Oct 7, 2008 – At the end of September, Sweden's Boxer pay DTT service had 696,000 subscribers, a decrease of 5,000 in the third quarter, though still 3,000 more than at the same date last year. Boxer has also approved its first terrestrial PVR (from Sagem).

Consumer spending on mobile broadcast TV to reach $2.7 billion by 2013, but revenues to be hit by free to air services

New Zealand - Freeview powers past the 160,000 mark
Oct 6, 2008 – Freeview continues its strong growth as the ever expanding channel and HD line-up attracts more New Zealanders. At the end of September 160,496 receivers had been sold, with an additional 37,980 receivers added in the July to September quarter.

Free satellite in 900,000 UK households
Oct 3, 2008 – Ofcom's 'Communications Market: Digital Progress Report' for the second quarter of 2008 shows around 840,000 homes were using free satellite on their main television set. This was an increase of around 120,000 on the previous quarter.
